Second innings..

Hmm..so post one post after which I lost my username and password a million times and thus an entry to the blogworld , here's a new attempt to start my second innings..this time with a renewed commitment to keep scribbling to glory and avoid shooing my blog readers with another self-centered poem!

For lack of interesting and glamorous subjects to write on, I decided to write about my life here in Akron which unfortunately is completely unglamorous and equally uninteresting as well. Looks like I shall have to use all my creative juices to make it at least worth a glance.
Akron, a sleepy little University town roughly forty minutes south east of Cleveland, Ohio is officially my hometown now for the last six months. After the dignified settings of Austin, then the picturesque beaches of Carlsbad, California and the rich snooty surroundings of Burbank in Los Angeles, Akron was a thud to reality and a painful one. Six months of being an Akronite I still find this town to be gloomy, dangerous (yes more so than LA!!) and rather unwelcoming.

Agreed a large portion of my gloom has been due to my transition from a well heeled (o.k. spoilt!) Emerson employee to a homeless, jobless and car less PIG(S) (Poor Indian Graduate Student); but this treeless, beach less, gray skied town did nothing to lift the gloom. Being the ever optimistic cheerful soul that I am, I tried hard to bounce back with a smile. And then one semester later (full of bad grades, boring Professors, bathroom cleaning squabbles and disastrous end to some friendships) it’s hard to genuinely smile (the freezing cold outside does not help either!)

But hope floats..A new semester begins, new Professors (I just realized Chinese professors are fun because you end up spending half the class figuring their accents), grades are not in sight, we plan to shift in a bigger house with two bathrooms (thank god for small mercies and architects who have the sense to build two toilet units!) and new friendships solemnized and spring is round the corner..!!
