Ever had a dream that takes you on a week long fantasy trip round the world?
I would have been a millionaire for every penny offered for such dreams...
I dreamt of being an author..the idea of being a famous author gripped my being and whisked me to the world of fame..! Book previews and signings, reviews, quotes and more publishers claiming a portion of my fame..a movie made out of it perhaps??
And here I am with a thousand titles and a dozen subjects in my mind, half a written page somewhere, a chapter incomplete..and it remains just that a dream..
I dreamt of being a businesswoman..a true corporate chick..an alpha female, a la Indra Nooyi (of Pepsi) or Emma Harte (from Woman of Substance, BTB). The idea took me to the world of sky scrapers and business suits, of chartered jets and unbridled power. I saw my article in Forbes and imagined how a decision I made could make or shake the stock market..
And here I am with several dozen half baked business ideas, an unfinished diploma in Management and the chartered jet remains just that...a dream..
I dreamt of being a ballerina..who would flow with the music and enthrall millions..
who would be as light as a gossamer wings. The idea took me to the world of music and dance and of expressions and pure joy. Of abstract notions and fluid grace. And here I am with naught a dancing lesson to credit..and it remains just that a dream..
And then I wonder if its wrong to dream, to want to be someone you are not? Which led me to look up some famous quotes, and found there are two kinds of people..
the dreamers and the practical earthly beings..
“Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.”: Epicurus, Greek philospher.
“You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say, 'Why not?'”: George Bernard Shaw
Would you then be a philosopher or a poet?

u could desire to have something u have not, and that could lead to u having what u desired.. so both chaps, namely epicurus and g. b. shaw would be right.. it would just mean that u'd have had a slow start! :P btw, thanks for ur comments on my blog.. i have now vowed to write more.. go ahead and visit it more often :D
